The Most Anticipated Movies of 2019: Part I

For moviegoers, 2018 was a great year with some great movies and some not so good movies. 2019 is here and all movie buffs are looking forward to enjoying great flicks. There are lots of good movies to come out this year and we would list one movie for every month. Here are the first six movies from the first half of 2019.

January – March
January: Year starts with Escape Room which will be releasing on 4th January; however, our pick is M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass. James McAvoy, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson will share the screen in this thriller. This will be a sequel of unbreakable and Split which came in 2000 and 2016 respectively. Bruce Willis will be playing the character of David Dunn. He will have a new alias “The Overseer”. Samuel L. Jackon will be playing the role of Elijah Price who is a cold-blooded murderer. James McAvoy will play the role of Kevin Wendell Crumb. His character will be a superhuman monster who is a mixture of 23 different personalities. Glass will release on 18th January.

February: The second movie in the list is Alita: Battle Angel which would release on 14th February. This movie was delayed due to James Cameron’s work on Avatar; however, it is finally ready for release. Based on the Japenese manga Gunnm by Yukito Kishiro, fans are eagerly waiting for this. Alita: Battle Angel is directed by Robert Rodriguez while screenplay has been written by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis. The title role will be played by Rosa Salazar. Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, and Mahershala Ali will also play pivoting roles in the movie.

March: March comes with a lot of expectation as Captain Marvel, Us and Dumbo will in the fray with a few other films. Our pick of the March is Captain Marvel without any doubt. Marvel’s newest superhero is touted as the best of the lot. Also, it is understood that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will lead the Marvel’s next phase after the culmination of phrase three with Avengers: Endgame. Captain Marvel will release on 8th March. Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson Djimon Hounsou will be playing pivotal roles in the film along with the leading star Brie Larson. Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The screenplay has been written by director duo along with Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Jac Schaeffer.

April – June
April: While multiple comic book character’s movies are releasing in April like Shazam, Hellboy, and Avengers: Endgame, there can be only one pick for this month. There are no two minds about Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. This is the most anticipated movie of 2019 as fans are eager to know what happens after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. After the most of the superheroes were turned to dust by Thanos decimation, now the onus is on the original Avengers Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye along with Rocket Raccoon and Nebula. Avengers: Endgame will release on 26th April and will mark the culmination of the Marvel’s phase three. This movie also may be the last show for some of the leading men in Marvel like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as this is the last movie in their contract with Marvel. Avengers: Endgame has been directed by Russo brothers who have earlier handled Captain America: Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War and blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War. The screenplay has been written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were filmed back-to-back.

May: The Fifth month of the year comes with Summit Entertainment’s John Wick 3: Parabellum, Disney’s Aladdin and Warner Bros.’ Godzilla: King of the Monsters along with few others. Our pick of the month is Keanu Reeves’ John Wick 3: Parabellum which is also known as John Wick: Chapter 3. Keanu Reeves will be returning as John Wick and he will try to avoid getting assassinated as he has a global contract of $14 million on him. Halle Berry and Laurence Fishburne will be joining him in the third installment of the John Wick series. Directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad, John Wick 3: Parabellum will be releasing on 17th May. Filming of this movie has been done in New York City, Montreal, Russia, Morocco, and Spain.

June: The last month of the first half of 2019 will have fans watching Dark Phoenix, The Secret Life of Pets 2, Men in Black: International, Toy Story 4, Grudge and few others. Directed by Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix is our pick of June 2019. It is based on the Dark Phoenix Saga where Jean Grey unleashes the Phoenix. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence will be returning as Charles/Professor X, Eric/Magneto, Raven/Mystique while the title role will be played by Sophie Turner.
